Roman Catholic Cardinal. He studied for the priesthood at the Seminary of Saint-Sulpice in Paris and following his ordination in December 1873, he served at several posts. In January 1908 he was installed as the Archbishop of Paris, France and in November 1911 he was created a cardinal by Pope Pius X and became the Cardinal-Priest of Santa Sabina. He served as archbishop and cardinal until his death at the age of 69.
