Actor. Best known for his portrayal as the titular character on the 1960s television series "The Green Hornet." After he was discovered by producer Mike Todd in 1957, Williams started his career on the detective program "Bourbon Street Beat," which ran from October 1959 to July 1960. His character, Kenny Madison, was subsequently reused on another ABC program, "Surfside 6." His most notable role came several years later with "The Green Hornet," where he played newspaper owner Britt Reid, who doubled as a crime fighter. Though the show's style contrasted in some regards with the ABC network's other superhero show, "Batman," Williams and Bruce Lee, who played Green Hornet's sidekick, Kato, made crossover appearances in three episodes. In the 60s, when his career was at its peak, he also appeared on "The Beverly Hillbillies," "The Tycoon," and "The Dick Van Dyke Show." Later in life, Williams was plagued by health problems, including a respiratory ailment that stemmed from work as a volunteer firefighter.
