Professional Hockey Player. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, he played as a Defenseman for the National Hockey League's New York Rangers from 1935 to 1938, and the Chicago Blackhawks from 1938 to 1946, playing 414 games, scoring 30 goals, and tallying 96 points. Following his retirement from hockey, he went back to Winnipeg, where he opened up several bowling alleys with fellow hockey player Bill Mosienko. Cooper also owned and operated a successful farm in East Kildonan, Manitoba. On March 30, 1979, while returning from a golfing vacation in Florida, he was killed in a car accident in Tifton, Georgia.
