Major League Baseball Player. Born Ivan Augustus (Peters) Murrell. A native of Almirante, Panama, he was an outfielder and first baseman for ten seasons (1963 to 1964, 1967 to 1974) with the Houston Colt.45s/ Astros, San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves. Chosen by the Padres during the 1968 expansion draft, Murrell had his best year in 1970 when he had a season high 85 hits and 12 home runs. In a career 564 games , Murrell had 308 hits with a .236 lifetime batting average.
