Puerto Rican composer. Estrada Suarez had a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico. He joined the United States Army during World War II. Being away inspired him to write the world-renowned bolero titled "En mi viejo San Juan", which is considered a classic. The musical composition was written by Estrada to please his brother, who was stationed in Panama during the same war. Some of his other titles include: "El Romance del Cafetal", "Verde Navidad", "El Amor del Jíbaro", "Pobre Amor", "Pedacito de Borinquen","Amor del Alma", "Lo Nuestro Terminó" and many others. In 1966 Estrada Suárez was declared adoptive son of the City of San Juan and later on the Spanish government granted him the Cruz de Caballero de la Orden de Isabel la Católica. In addition to his musical accomplishments Estrada Suárez held a position at the Department of State for 35 years. In the Miraflores subdivision of Bayamón there is an elementary school named after him. There are also streets in Cabo Rojo, Isabela and San Juan honoring him.
