Composer. He was conductor of the Canadian Band of the Allied Expeditionary Forces during World War II with Glenn Miller. He remained in England. He began the Robert Farnon Orchestra which played on British radio and television with Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields, and Norman Wisdom. He scored music for 40 films including "Spring in Park Lane," and "Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N." He was the musical director to "The Road to Hong Kong" starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. He worked with Sarah Vaughan in 1963. He began a long association with Tony Bennett in 1968. He lived in Guernsey for 46 years. He was awarded the Officer of the Order of Canada in 1998 for his services to music.
