Add PhotosBURYING GROUND.
It is divided into Family Burial Lots, 8 feet by 11 1-2 feet, which are separated by convenient avenues. The whole it surrounded by a durable fence. The soil is dry, and the situation retired, though convenient. This ground being held by the Vestry for the sole purpose of a place of Burial, the public may rest satisfied that it can never be diverted to any other purpose. The price of the lots hat been fixed low, to as to be within the reach of all.
Price of single lots $5, for which endorsed payable on demand, and bearing interest, will be received. Single interments $2.
A plot of the ground will be shown by, and lots can be purchased of
HENRY COOK.
We call the attention of our readers, and especially of heads of families, to the above notice; and trust that all will promptly avail themselves of the present opportunity to secure what has so long been needed. It has been a matter of just reproach, that we have never had a place of burial (except that attached to the Presbyterian Church,) but what might be fenced in by a private owner, or has lain out as a public common. — Our dead have been treated with a disrespect that places us below the savage; for the graves of their friends are sacred, while ours are turned up by the plow, or trodden down by the beast of the field. We rejoice that this need no longer be so; and we are particularly glad that the price of the lots has been fixed so low as to be accessible to all. Every one can now choose his "six feet of earth," and rest assured that his dust and that of his friends will remain side by side undisturbed, save by the last trump.
