Born Aug. 16, 1921, in Frostburg to the late Edward Carder and Virgie (Niner) Carder. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia Lubbers; a sister, Evelyn and three brothers, Edward, Elmer and Russell. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Carder was an Army World War II veteran and a retired carpenter from PPG Industries. His favorite hobbies included woodworking and gardening.
Surviving are his children Barbara Carney, Nancy Beaman, Diane May and husband Larry, and William Carder Jr.; grandchildren, Kelly Egros and husband Jim, Andrew and Christopher May, and Bruce and Bethann Carney; great-grandchildren, Kendall Egros and Thomas William Allen Carney, and his friends Abby and Katie, his loving dogs.
William was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
A memorial service will be held in the Maryland Veterans Rocky Gap Chapel on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 11 a.m.
