Clifford R. Adams.

Clifford R. Adams, 92, died May 22, 2011 in Lawton. He was born Nov. 2, 1918 in Russell to John Harve and Audrey Hilma Hughey Adams. He attended the Central View and Reed Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II, serving overseas in Africa and throughout Europe. He was married to Betty Cox in Hollis on Feb. 2, 1950. Together, they raised 7 children.

Cliff farmed for many years in the Friendship area. He worked on the crew that built the Lugert Dam. He was a heavy equipment operator for several years followed by working until retirement for Jackson County District 1 for 15 years.

His favorite pastimes were fishing, playing dominos and coon hunting. As a member of the Quartz Mountain Coon Hunters Association, he won numerous trophies. He loved baseball, especially the Braves and the Yankees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; and one great-granddaughter, Kimberlynn Marie Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; seven children, Bob and Dee Rhodabarger of Clinton, Steve and Mary Adams of Pauls Valley, Ronnie and Macky Adams of Weatherford, Mike and Patty Adams of Weatherford, Denise and Jim Vineyard of Belleville, Ill., Kim Adams of Blair, Jennifer and Rich McCormack of Synder; sister, Lou James of Wichita Falls, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. today with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.

Services will be held May 25, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Blair officiated by Randy Mitchell. Burial will be at Blair Cemetery under the direction of People's Co-operative Funeral Home.
