ALF CARL was born Sept. 7, 1834 and died at Mauch Chunk, Saturday Oct. 21, in his 83rd year. He was married to Elizabeth Oiler, who died in 1892. In was an invalid for six years. He is survived by Mrs Mary Hoover of Steelton, Mrs Katie Arbegast and Mrs E P Heckman, both of Mauch Chunk, Mrs Lizzie Smith of Dover, York county, Mrs Clara Smith of York, Mrs Clara Miller of Mercersburg and Charles of Dover.
Mr Carl conducted a smithshop near McCrea for many years and was favorably known throughout that district for many miles. The hospitality of the Carl home was proverbial.
Interment at the Brick Church Tuesday by undertaker Shulenberger, from the noon train, Rev. J. W. Wolfe officiating. The pallbearers were old friends -- Levi Miller, Adam Billman, Luther Barrick and Robert Hoover.
