Charles Bittle was the loving husband of Kay, father of six children, grandfather of one, and brother of Anna May. His best friend was Joe Hoag. Born in Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, he grew up in Schuylkill Haven, before moving to Darby and then Glenolden, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School and Coyne Electrical School (Chicago). He was a Boy Scout leader and merit badge counselor for many years. He enjoyed wood carving, woodworking, knitting, crocheting, cooking, camping, traveling, reading and fishing. He had a fabulous sense of humor. A licensed electrician and stationary engineer by trade, he enjoyed doing repair projects at his and other people's homes. He was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer six weeks before his death. He died at home.
