David (Dave) Alan Horne, of Alexandria, VA, passed away on August 21, 2023 in Alexandria, VA. 


Dave was born in Johnstown, PA to Shirley Elizabeth Horne (nee Wilson) and Albert Luther Horne on March 9, 1941. 


He lived in Pennsylvania, but when his parents divorced, his mother married Bill Price, who was in the Army. Dave moved to many places, including Japan while he was a child. He eventually attended Old Dominion University and then George Mason School of Law, both in Virginia. 


Dave was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He served from 1960-1980, retiring as a Master Sergeant. After, he went on to a career as an engineer. Once he passed the Bar, he focused on pro-bono work for fellow veterans. 


Dave was involved with many groups including The American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The MCAS Rose Garden Group, VMFA 115 Silver Eagles, The First Marine Aircraft Wing and the Northern Virginia Libertarian Party. 


Dave is preceded in death by his mother Shirley Horne, his father Albert Horne, and his step- father Bill Price. Dave is survived by his long term partner, Barbara Hoar, his daughter Sue Malanga, her husband, Gregg Malanga, and their children Sarah Malanga-Dave and Michaela Malanga, his daughter Heather Jameyson, her husband, Jackson Jameyson, and their children Jonathan and Juniper Jameyson, his daughter Kathryn Berger, her husband Eric Berger, and their son, Adrien, and his son David Horne. He is also survived by his step-sons Patrick Hoar and his family, and Brendan Hoar and his family. He is also survived by his half- brother Cliff Horne, his wife Carla Horne, and their daughter Dahlia. 


Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Old Post Chapel and burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
