A native of Lando, S.C., Mr. Ernandez was the son of the late John Ernandez and the late Lois Kee Ernandez. He was a WWII Omaha Beach D-Day veteran and the recipient of the French Legion of Honor on March 25, 2012, in Rock Hill at the Magnolia Room at Laurel Creek. He was owner of Buddy's Drive-In and Restaurant in Chester for 50 years. He was a member of the Richburg Masonic Lodge, a Hejaz Shriner and past commander of the American Legion in Chester.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Short Ernandez; his daughter, Jonie Alewine and her husband, Jim, of Rock Hill; his brother, Clyde Ernandez of York County; and his sisters, Lorraine Ernandez and Delores Brandon, both of Chester County. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Keith and Craig Ernandez, Mary Frances Simpson and Ruby Orr.
