ZEPHANIA WARREN
Zephania Warren, whose sudden death was mentioned in the last issue, was born in Vermont in 1812. When about 15 years of age he removed to Canada, where at the age of 30 he married Miss Eliza McCary with whom he has lived 60 years. Eight children blessed their union, seven of whom are living; Mrs. Anna Pierce; Michigan; Mrs. Elizabeth Weegar, Canada; Mrs. Millie Kaley, Michigan; Mrs. Sarah McElwain, Conewango; Mrs. Caroline Macy, Michigan; Emerson, Cold Spring; Arthur, Conewango Valley. About 35 years ago Mr. Warren came to Elm Creek with his family where he has since resided. Mr. Warren experienced religion over 50 years ago, and still clung to a faith in the future. He was known as an indulgent father, a patient and affectionate husband, and a man who never sought to interfere with his neighbours. The funeral was held from the house Saturday, Rev. Mr. Evans of Napoli officiating. The services were largely attended and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful, showing the high regard in which the quiet old gentleman was held. Those attending from out of town were Frank Baker, Buffalo; Mrs. S.E. Tiffany, Gowanda; Mrs. Lina Stumpf, Jamestown; A. Warren and family, Conewango Valley; Emerson Warren and daughter, Coldspring, and Lynn Weegar, Randolph.
