Mrs. Lucy Hanks Gabriel, 60, of Morven, Georgia, passed away September 13, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. She was born on July 11, 1957 in Hahira, Georgia to James Harold Hanks and Hellen Griffin Hanks, both now deceased. She was of the Jewish-Episcopalian faith and was a retired teacher having taught middle school in Guatemala City, Guatemala and high school in Morven. She has lived in many places Georgia including Cochran and Morven. Mrs. Gabriel performed her undergraduate work at Wesleyan College in Macon and her graduate work at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro as well as studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain.
Mrs. Gabriel is survived by one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister and one half sister.
Mrs. Gabriel's family will receive friends Friday evening, September 15, 2017 from 6 until 8 PM at Boone Funeral Home South, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, Georgia. The funeral service will be held Saturday September 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Dell Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Campground Methodist Church Cemetery in Brooks County.
