Death Notice
Died on second day, 2d inst. in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County, JOSEPH WALKER, in the 88th year of his age. On 4th day his remains were interred in the Great Valley, accompanied by an unusually large assemblage of relatives and friends. After the interment a discourse was delivered by Emmor Kimber, on the memorable works of the Apostle Paul...

From Lewis Walker of Chester Valley and his Descendants, 1896, pages 69-81:
Joseph Walker (son of Isaac and Sarah (Jerman) Walker), was born at "Rehobeth," Tredyffrin Township, Chester Co., Penna., 5th mo. 25th, 1731, died 11th mo. 1st, 1818. He married in 1752, Sarah Thomas, daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Jarman) Thomas. She was born 3d mo. 25th, 1734, and died "12th ye 3d mo.," 1792. [extensive information on Sarah's ancestry ...]

Joseph and Sarah went to live on the farm that joined his father's estate. Here a house was built, which, with some enlargement and improvement, still stands, the home of his great-great-grandson, William H. Walker ... [the farm was adjacent to Valley Forge and the house was headquarters for officers of the army during the Revolution. A number of interesting stories of this period are related. The Walkers were Quakers, and therefore conscientiously objected to participating in the war]. Two years after Sarah Walker's death, her husband (Joseph) married again. His second wife was Jane Rankin, widow of William Rankin ... Joseph Walker became totally blind in his later years. He lived beyond his eighty-sixth birthday, dying at his home November 1st, 1818.

Joseph and Sarah (Thomas) Walker had thirteen children: [refer to imaged added to Joseph's memorial]
