Sharron Zachry was born in Waco, Texas, on March 21, 1951, to Clinton Wallace and Gloria (Thompson) McKethan. A state-champion basketball player at Midway High School, she would later graduate from the University of Houston and earn a Master of Education degree from Baylor University. Her singularly distinguished career in education began in Spring Branch ISD. On a blind date in 1976 at the Astrodome she met Pat Zachry, a rookie Cincinnati Reds pitcher. Sharron and Pat married in June 1977 and began their adventure in professional baseball all the while maintaining their close family ties in Waco. In 1990 she joined the faculty at Hewitt Elementary School and returned later as principal. For ten years she was principal at Midway High School, then opened Castleman Creek Elementary School. She retired in 2015. Her tributes, accolades and awards were legion. Among them was being named a Midway Distinguished Alumni. None, though, matched what she considered her crowning achievements, her pride and joy: son, Josh, and daughter, Meredith.
Sharron Zachry is preceded in death by her adoring grandparents; and her father, Clinton Wallace McKethan.
