Dad has been involved in scouting forever where he touched many lives. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and Award of Merit.
Dad was always involved in sports whether playing or officiating for most of his life. He enjoyed sports, family activities, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and carpentry.
As a member of the LDS Church he served faithfully in many church callings: Scoutmaster, in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, was a Sunday School Teacher, 1st Assistant in the High Priest Group, a Home Teacher, basketball coach and on the Scout Committee. Dad and Mom served a mission in the Salt Lake City Family History Church Mission from August 2009 to July 2010, and also served as Temple workers in the Ogden LDS Temple from November 2010 to April 2011.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; children, David (Gisela) Aardema, Nonna (Jon) Coleman, Russell (Brenda) Aardema, Becky (Clay) Rigby, Susan (Bret) Liechty, Troy (Sherry) Aardema, Matthew (Meredith) Aardema, Mark (Wendy) Aardema; 36 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna Barker, Deleuw Estes, Ralph (Sheila) Aardema, Artie (Bob) Pearce, Kris (Larry) Cook, Marta (Larry) Giles, Nada (Reed) Spencer and Ida (Robert) Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to give special thanks to Peak Specialty Group Home Health and Hospice; Mike and Annette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to America First Credit Union to the Paul Aardema Memorial Fund.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Pleasant View 12th Ward, 900 W. Pleasant View Dr. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 5 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park.
