Roger Hendrik Burns, 71, of Vernal, returned to our Heavenly Father on 7 July 2015, while surrounded by his family and friends. We are grateful he no longer suffers from his long-term illness.

Roger was born on 27 April 1944, in Washington Terrace, Weber County, Utah. He was the middle son of the late Lowell C. and Lena Burns. Roger was an active member of the LDS church. He graduated from Bonneville High, then enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California.

Following his term in the Navy, Roger married Alice on 8 February 1964 and the couple was blessed with two beautiful girls, Tina and Staci. On 25 November 1972, Roger married Judy Luck. They moved to the Bay area where they had a daughter, Jennifer. While there, Roger enjoyed working for Fantasy Records in Berkley. The family soon decided to move to Vernal, Utah, where Roger took a job working for Ute Tribe Enterprises. There, he and Judy were blessed with Roger's fourth daughter, Rebecca. After several years working in hospitality, Roger married Teri and the two moved to Ogden, Utah, where Roger worked at Hill Air Force Base (HAFB). He and Teri divorced and he retired from HAFB, after which Roger resided in St. George, then later returned to Vernal.

Roger was known by many as a jovial, fun-loving, adventurous guy. In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing, golf and scuba diving in California. During retirement, Roger loved playing with his grandsons: Tucker Hislop; Talon (Juba) Hislop and Michael Campbell. He liked to camp with his family during summertime and take long trips on his four wheeler.

Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina and brothers, Reggie Burns and Randy Burns. He was survived by his daughters, Jennifer, of Holladay; Staci, of Ogden; and Rebecca "Bitsy" Hislop, of Vernal. Also surviving Roger are siblings, Andy Burns of Manteca, California; Cheri Garr, of Orem, Utah; Steve Burns, of Washington; and Charles Burns, of Roy, Utah.

A graveside service was held in Roger's honor at 2 P.M., Friday, 10 July at Vernal Memorial Park, with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard."

The family sends special thanks to Lou Harrison for her outstanding help and friendship. To all who helped Roger during his health battle, we are forever grateful for your kindness, compassion and willingness to help Roger."
