Husband of Jane Clark. His brother Archibald married her sister Sarah Clark.
It is almost certain that he was born in Ulster, Ireland circa 1721.
First purchased land in Rockbridge Co., from William Beverly on Feb 4, 1748. He also fought in the French & Indian War.
One record states that he was well known and had minor children, two of which died during the Revolutionary War.
This record also states that his son John cared for his siblings after William passing.
This William had a son, William III, that was one of the first explorers of Kentucky. He went with James Gay, Samuel Stevenson and Benjamin Blackburn on a surveying expedition.
This was probably the beginning of the migration of this line of Elliott's to Kentucky.
