Julia graduated from Mahoney Township High School in 1928 and earned a B. S. in nursing at Sacred Heart Nursing School in Allentown. After nursing school, Julia served as the school nurse for several years.
During World War II, she enlisted in the U.S. Army, advancing to first lieutenant. She was stationed in England at the 312th Station Hospital. Upon her return to the states, she was assigned to the Halloran General Hospital on Staten Island, New York, where she cared for soldiers until 1946. Julia was awarded the Victory Cross and a European Theater Ribbon.
After the army, Julia earned a Master's Degree from Columbia University in nursing management and used this degree in a career with the Veteran's Administration Hospitals, serving in many hospitals throughout the United States.
Julia was predeceased by a sister Mary Johnson from New York and brothers James, John and Joseph all, from Pennsylvania.
Following her retirement, she lived in Putnam Valley, New York and later in Danbury, Connecticut.
Julia is survived by fifteen nieces and nephews, some of whom still reside in Mahoney City area.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Canicus Church in Mahoney City, PA.
