Amelia was born about 1781 to Ignatius FLOWERS and his wife Susannah. Her father died in 1793 and in his will he calls Amelia "Milly".

Amelia married John CHISHOLM and they had two boys, John and Alexander. Her husband died in 1805. She and her sons moved in with her brother's family. In February 1811, Amelia remarried to William BALDWIN, but left him a few months later after becoming pregnant. She gave birth to their daughter Ann Civil BALDWIN on November 5, 1811.

In the 1820s, most of the FLOWERS family including Amelia and her children moved to Mississippi. In her old age, she began living with her son Alexander. She died shortly before November 29, 1857 in Brandon and is buried there.
