Steven and another boy, Lee Weisbrod, 19, of River Vale, were killed during a fast-moving thunderstorm by a lightning strike, while trying to get to shelter. They were playing soccer with two friends on a high school athletic field. The other two boys were able to reach safety and sustained only minor physical injuries.
Steven was a very creative, funny and caring person. While working in day care, I had the pleasure of watching him grow up, and his passing is truly a loss for all the people whose lives he touched.
Steven was laid to rest in Beth-el Cemetery in New Jersey, after a Jewish faith service.
